Punjab, often referred to as the “Land of Five Rivers,” is a region in northern India that holds a unique place in the country’s history, culture, and identity. The name Punjab comes from the Persian words “Panj” (five) and “Aab” (water), referring to the five rivers that flow through the region. It is the birthplace of Sikhism, a major world religion founded by Guru Nanak in the 15th century though home to Hindus, Muslims and less than 1% followers of Jesus.
